Perak DAP Exco Accused Of Raping Domestic Worker

The alleged suspect reportedly maintained his innocence.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 9 — A Perak state executive councillor’s Indonesian domestic worker has accused him of sexual assault.

News reports quoted Bukit Aman sexual, women and children’s investigations division (D11) principal assistant director Choo Lily as confirming that police have recorded the alleged victim’s statement, who reportedly filed a complaint yesterday.

“This is a very serious allegation and the party views the matter with grave concern.

“As a police report had been lodged yesterday, the party is of the view that no one is above the law and as such will leave it to the authorities to conduct a full investigation,” Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming was quoted saying in a statement.

The alleged suspect, who is a first-term exco member and second-term state assemblyman, reportedly maintained his innocence in an interview with Sin Chew Daily.

The DAP has four male state executive councillors in Perak: Abdul Aziz Bari, Howard Lee, A. Sivanesan, and Yong Choo Kiong.
