Sungai Buloh Hospital treated 92,874 Covid-19 patients as of April 27, 2022, accommodating more than 2,000 Covid-19 patients at a time at the peak of operations.
Sungai Buloh Hospital, the Klang Valley’s sole fully designated Covid-19 facility, has been receiving referrals of Covid-19 cases requiring intensive care from other hospitals.
Dr Benedict Sim Lim Heng from Sungai Buloh Hospital says Covid-19 patients who die after recovery are not officially counted as Covid-19 deaths, while some non-Covid patients died after they were diverted from the Covid facility.
Doctors in Sungai Buloh Hospital’s Covid-19 wards have to review patients, clerk new admissions, discharge patients, take blood, do referrals to relevant subspecialties, and attend to emergencies in between, with the help of only two to three nurses.
