In Geneva, Dr Dzul unveils plans to expand "private wings" or the FPP service in MOH hospitals to generate income and retain specialists; a special-purpose vehicle (SPV) will create the private wings targeting the M40. This new programme is called Rakan MOH.

11% Of Operating Theatres In MOH Hospitals Not Functioning Optimally

Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad says 75 (11%) of 690 OTs in MOH facilities aren’t functioning optimally. OTs must meet safety standards, including having basic anaesthesia, surgical equipment, and staff. “If not, OTs must be suspended.”

Only 5% Of Public Hospitals, Clinics Have Adequate Manpower: MMA Schomos Poll

An ad hoc poll conducted by MMA Schomos last month among >100 respondents nationwide found that only 5% of public health care facilities had adequate manpower. Half of respondents attributed the manpower shortages to doctors' resignations or transfers.

A total of 7,606 long Covid patients received outpatient rehab at MOH facilities from 2020 to 2023. In the same period, 22 deaths were reported among long Covid patients, although their cause of death was not attributed to long Covid.
