There are only two units of MRI machines at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL).
The machines can only handle maximum of 25 patients per day. However, more than 40 patients are given appointments in a day.
The HKL MRI centre serves patients in Kuala Lumpur. Other hospitals like Ampang Hospital do not have MRI facilities.
I was told by the MRI supervisor that this issue was brought to top management. But so far, no action has been taken to get new machines.
To overcome this problem, HKL sent their patients to private hospitals to conduct MRI tests. This was done in 2025, but not this year.
Why weren’t new MRI machines bought and why aren’t patients sent to private hospitals?
