Talian Kasih Reopening At 5pm: Deputy Minister

The hotline for domestic abuse cases was previously closed during the Movement Control Order until March 31.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 18 — The Talian Kasih hotline for domestic abuse complaints will reopen at 5pm today, a deputy minister said, after Malaysians criticised its closure during the national partial shutdown.

“For disaster complaints, one can call the National Operation Centre at 03-88882010,” Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Siti Zailah Mohd Yusof told CodeBlue.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun also said in a statement that both the Talian Kasih 15999 and its WhatsApp number, 019-2615999, would continue operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Former Women, Family and Community Development Deputy Minister Hannah Yeoh earlier criticised the closure of the Talian Kasih 15999 hotline from today until the end of the month during the Movement Control Order, amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Pengerang MP Azalina Othman Said from Umno similarly said the National Security Council (NSC) has allowed the operation of hotline services.
