Wage Theft And Tolerant Doctors: Stop The Nonsense! — Dr Timothy Cheng

Getting a doctor to work on a Saturday and Sunday and telling them "you cannot claim" is essentially saying that they have to work for free. This is not only happening in UMMC, but also other centres. Stop this nonsense, writes Dr Timothy Cheng.

A doctor accuses UMMC of "wage theft" for not compensating passive on-call work that is worth RM560-RM980 monthly (10%-20% of salary), but the university hospital says only individuals on the authorised on-call schedule are eligible for on-call allowances.
