Limit Advanced Tests, Prescribe Generic Drugs, AIA Tells Private Hospitals

Due to BNM interim measures to curb health insurance premium hikes that "come at great cost to the industry", AIA Malaysia tells its panel of private hospitals to prioritise simpler tests before advanced ones and to substitute branded drugs with generics.

MOH To Benchmark Private Hospital Bills Against Rakan KKM

MOH plans to pilot the DRG payment model in Rakan KKM, the "premium economy" wing of public hospitals that charges above cost. Rakan KKM's bills can then be used as a reference price for private hospitals that takes into account a "marginal profit margin".

Health Parliament Committee Summons Insurance Industry, Bank Negara, MOH Over Medical Premium Hikes

The Health parliament special select committee, chaired by Pulai MP Suhaizan Kayat, has launched an inquiry into medical insurance premium hikes, summoning three insurance/ takaful associations, Bank Negara, and MOH for two separate briefings on Dec 10.

Bank Negara: Insurers To Set Health Insurance Co-Payment Caps

Bank Negara said today it is up to insurers to set the maximum cap on co-payments in health insurance; minimum is 5%. BNM also said the premium for MHIT products with co-payment features is 19%-68% lower than those without, depending on co-payment level.
