The budget proposal to increase the number of private hospitals to 91 in order to outsource patients from public hospitals for a variety of treatment methods is welcomed by the Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia.
We trust that the amount is appropriate and sufficient to allow private hospitals to fully treat these patients, even in circumstances that are challenging.
If at all possible, technology should be used to facilitate referrals between public and private institutions, saving patients from having to wait longer.
In public hospitals, the suggestion for patients who can afford to pay more is a positive approach. We would be pleased to help with the public hospital’s private concept structure.
Initiate collaborative ventures and clinics where patients with sufficient financial resources can be considered for treatment together with nearby private hospitals.
This will enable the B40 and some M40 to receive public health care funding at a faster rate, while others can afford to receive treatment in a private initiative with a joint venture concept with private hospitals.
This will relieve the use of public infrastructure and human capital.
