The Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Associations Malaysia (FPMPAM) notes the statement issued by the Association of Private Practitioners Sabah (APPS) regarding the ongoing investigations into allegations involving a senior hospital director in Sabah.
FPMPAM supports APPS’s call for a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation in accordance with established legal and disciplinary processes.
Allegations of sexual harassment, workplace misconduct, or abuse of authority are serious and must be investigated diligently, professionally, and without delay.
Equally, every individual involved is entitled to due process, with conclusions based on evidence and the findings of the appropriate authorities rather than public speculation.
While public accountability is important, investigations should be allowed to proceed without undue interference from social media narratives or premature judgements.
Trial by social media risks undermining confidence in established processes and may cause unnecessary harm to those directly involved, their families, colleagues, and the wider health care community.
FPMPAM also emphasises that all parties should be treated with dignity and respect throughout the investigative process.
Protecting complainants, safeguarding the rights of respondents, and ensuring the integrity of investigations are complementary principles that strengthen public confidence in our health care institutions.
We have confidence that the relevant authorities will conduct a comprehensive, independent, and objective investigation.
Whatever the outcome, it should be accepted as the result of a process that is fair, transparent, and grounded in evidence.
FPMPAM urges all members of the medical profession and the public to allow the investigative and disciplinary processes to take their course, while refraining from speculation or commentary that may prejudice the outcome.
