KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 – The Ministry of Health (MOH) has confirmed the postponement of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023, originally slated for a second reading tomorrow.
The MOH said the delay is to allow for the consideration of other government matters in Parliament. However, no new date for tabling was given.
“MOH would like to inform that the Smoking Product Control Bill for Public Health Bill 2023 numbered D.R. 25/2023 which was scheduled to be tabled for the Second Reading on October 10 has been postponed to make way for other government business as listed in the Parliament Agenda.
“The presentation of this bill will be made by the MOH in the near future,” the ministry said in a statement, according to the New Straits Times (NST).
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa announced last week that the government planned to table the revised Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill 2023 for second reading in the Dewan Rakyat tomorrow, following a Cabinet decision last Wednesday.
