Dewan Rakyat Passes Controversial Act 342 Amendment Bill On Infectious Disease Control

Dewan Rakyat today passed the Act 342 amendment bill 2024, despite bipartisan criticism of harsh punishments, excessive powers for the Health DG, and allowing the use of "force" by enforcement officers for infectious disease prevention and control.

Dewan Rakyat Passes Medical Bill, Radically Revamping Medical Specialty Training

The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Medical amendment bill in a radical revamp of medical specialty training in Malaysia, opening it up to local specialist societies beyond universities and enabling the registration of specialists from the parallel pathway.

Medical Act Amendments To Be Tabled In Fortnight: Health Minister

Dr Dzul says the Medical Act amendment will be tabled in the third week of the current Dewan Rakyat meeting, aiming to pass it the following week. He adds it's "irresponsible" to question the safety of surgeons, noting there are 35 CT surgeons with FRCS.

MOH’s China Contact For Defective Ventilators Came From Minister Wee: PAC Report

According to PAC’s report, Pharmaniaga claimed MOH told it where to source ventilators from, which then turned out to be defective. Then-Minister Wee Ka Siong gave MOH a China contact for the ventilators as established European suppliers were “closed” at the time.
