KUALA LUMPUR, August 25 — Bersatu representative Dr Afif Bahardin today urged the Ministry of Health (MOH) to resolve the delayed payment of various allowances for Sungai Buloh Hospital medical officers.
The Seberang Jaya assemblyman said he understood that there are some problems in payment mechanisms at the Selangor government hospital.
“MOH and the related Minister should examine this matter carefully,” tweeted Dr Afif, who is a trained medical doctor.
Dr Afif’s call followed Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii, also a trained doctor, who urged MOH at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday to address complaints by Sungai Buloh Hospital doctors.
The DAP federal lawmaker pointed out that this was not the first time such a problem occurred. Thirty-one contract medical officers posted to Sungai Buloh Hospital from three university hospitals last March previously suffered a two-month delay of their salaries and allowances for April and May.
A Sungai Buloh Hospital medical officer wrote an anonymous letter to CodeBlue yesterday, alleging that medical officers at the MOH hospital have yet to receive their relocation allowance since they were transferred from other hospitals to Sungai Buloh Hospital five months ago last March to help with the Covid-19 outbreak.
They are now being relocated again this month based on their first choice of placement.
The government doctor also claimed that medical officers at Sungai Buloh Hospital have yet to receive their on-call allowance or Covid-19 special allowance for the month of June.
