All Sarawak Schools Reopen Amid Haze

Three areas in Sarawak have unhealthy air quality.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 11 — All 409 schools in Sarawak which closed yesterday because of the haze reopened today.

“The UPSR examination went on smoothly as scheduled,” the Sarawak state education department said in a brief statement.

Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 1pm today showed three areas in Sarawak with unhealthy air quality: Sri Aman (153), Kuching (139), and Samarahan (117).

A total of 21 areas throughout Malaysia recorded unhealthy air quality, with Rompin, Pahang, reporting “very unhealthy” API readings at 225 as of 1pm.
