KUALA LUMPUR, July 30 — Authorities confiscated 14 packets of vape-like candy called “Ghost Smoke Cool Fruit Powder” in Bukit Tengah, Penang, yesterday.
Bernama reported Penang Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry enforcement chief Chin Ching Chung as saying that the goods were confiscated at a business premises during checks in Seberang Perai Tengah.
“Also seized were related documents such as invoices. Initial investigation found that all the seized products were using false and dubious trade descriptions,” he was quoted saying.
Out of 59 premises, including wholesalers, retailers and hawkers at school that were inspected since July 23, Chin said only one location sold the controversial candy that produces vapour when it is eaten.
The sweet drew public attention when children were found online consuming the candy as if they were vaping.
