Tobacco/ Vape Regulations Enforced: Bans On Retail Display, Online And Vending Machine Sale

Act 852 is finally enforced. MOH has imposed a retail display ban on cigarettes and vapes except in specialised stores; and a ban on online and vending machine sales of smoking products. The retail display ban will come into effect latest by April 1, 2025.

The Partnership for Healthy Cities, a global network of 74 cities, says that it is working with DBKL to explore a ban on display of cigarettes and tobacco products at the point of sale in Kuala Lumpur. By-laws can be enacted before awaiting federal action.

UK Landmark Generational Smoking Ban Tabled In Parliament

The UK's GEG has been introduced in Parliament, with the Tobacco and Vapes Bill banning the sale of cigarettes to anyone born from 2009. Vape flavours and packaging will also be restricted. The bill is expected to pass later this year with Labour support.

Government To Table Tobacco Bill Tuesday For Second Reading: Minister

The Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Bill will be tabled for second reading in Parliament this Tuesday, says Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa. She told reporters earlier that the Health PSSC will also table its report on the bill for debate.
