Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew said Sibu and Miri residents are forced to travel to Kuching for radiotherapy and cardiac treatment, resulting in fatalities for many cardiac patients.
Sarawak General Hospital and Sibu Hospital are facing at least 5% reduction of their health care workforce over Covid quarantine, straining capacity to maintain elective care.
Sibu Hospital director Dr Nanthakumar says there are 57 ICU beds for Covid-19 patients, comprising 28 in ICU and 29 repurposed beds in the acute Covid-19 ward.

Staff are constantly infected with Covid-19 and put under quarantine; one staff was recently involved in an accident on the way to work (unsure if this was due to work fatigue).
Covid-19 deaths, average ICU cases and ventilated patients increased by 14%, 20%, and 26% respectively from Week 15 (April 11-17) to Week 16 (April 18-24).
