Operation Surge Capacity looks set to achieve its target of vaccinating 1.3 million people in Selangor and KL with at least their first dose from July 16-25, after administering about 132,000 daily jabs in the past week.
At least four volunteers at the Setia City Convention Centre mega vaccination site in Shah Alam contracted Covid-19, but the PPV allegedly did not inform staff about the cases and close contacts, undertake mass testing, or issue guidelines.
Operation Surge Capacity, which will be managed by both the federal and Selangor state governments, aims to give first doses to the remaining unvaccinated 2.6 million adults in KL and Selangor from July 16-August 1.
Logistics and vaccine deliveries to PPVs, as well as opening hours for the walk-in inoculation service in KL and Selangor for above-60s, haven’t been finalised yet.
Dr Adham Baba is also targeting 3,000 private GP clinics in Selangor and KL to join the Covid-19 vaccination programme to inoculate 300,000 people daily in total.
The national Covid-19 positive rate increased to 8.92% in the week of July 4-10, despite an increase of more than 70,000 tests from the previous week (June 27-July 3).
The SELangkah Vax website states that a digital vaccine certificate with a unique identifier under the Selangor state’s vaccination programme, SelVAX, is given on the SELangkah app.
