The Enhanced Movement Control Order, from July 3-16, covers nearly the entire state of Selangor except Sabak Bernam, as well as certain localities in KL.
Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari targets Covid-19 vaccination of 80 per cent of adults in Selangor by October, whereas Vaccine Minister Khairy Jamaluddin previously set an end-August target for the state.
Selangor will receive more than 4 million Covid-19 vaccine doses from the federal government next month, enabling full vaccination of 40% of the state’s total population or 53% of its adult population by end July.
Selangor exco Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud says Selangor only received 1,189,350 Covid-19 vaccine doses as of June 27, not 1,367,306 doses as claimed by Khairy Jamaluddin.
However, Khairy Jamaluddin is allowing delivery of “certain portions” of the Selangor state government’s Sinovac order from Pharmaniaga to start the state’s pilot Covid-19 vaccination programme.
As of June 14, only 3.7% of Selangor’s 4.8 million adult population have received complete Covid-19 vaccination, which means 7.4 million doses must be administered within the next 11 weeks.
Selangor is allocating RM200 million for its state-run Covid-19 vaccination programme that will provide 2.5 million doses procured by the state government.
Khairy says 17% of the country’s Covid-19 vaccine supply has been delivered to Selangor, roughly proportionate to the population of the state that comprises about 20% of the country’s adult population.
As of June 1, based on total population size, KL/ Putrajaya combined received about 31 Covid-19 vaccine doses per 100 people, followed by Johor (10 doses per 100 people) and Selangor (9 doses per 100 people); data on other states is unavailable.
