After Tragedy, Zaliha Reverses Earlier Opposition To Health Service Commission

In 2023, Zaliha Mustafa said forming a Health Service Commission won't solve MOH's issues and it lacks the power to improve health worker remuneration. But today, she wants it expedited because "we shouldn't wait until an issue receives public attention".

The fatal crash of a Flying Doctor Service helicopter has sparked widespread anger over the RM30 allowance for health workers, an indemnity form, and age of the aircraft. A doctor who served on FDS says he didn't get insurance or aviation safety training.

Over 6,200 Medical Officers Quit From 2021 To 2025: Dzulkefly

6,212 medical officers quit in 5 years from 2021 to 2025, comprising 4,380 contract and 1,832 permanent. Although contract MO resignations have been dropping annually from 2023, resignations of permanent MOs rose every year from 238 in 2021 to 498 in 2025.

JPA: Only 46% Of Medical Officers Complete Specialisation On Time

JPA says only 46% of doctors complete specialisation on time, thus delaying specialty training for others. JPA also approved over 66,000 new positions without trade-offs for MOH from 2019. The issue now is workforce distribution, not creating positions.

JPA Admits Concerns About New Subspecialty Training Requirement

JPA says it's aware of concerns about a new requirement for doctors to have 3 full LNPT years before applying for subspecialty training. The issue was recently discussed by the KSN, KPPA, and MOH. JPA has requested further input from MOH on implementation.
