Former Health Minister Dr Dzul says the government must come clean on MySejahtera, though he thinks Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin may have been a victim of circumstance.
MOH is discussing with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry on whether to ensure MySejahtera’s “total compliance” to PDPA or to include a clause stating “subject to PDPA”.
The Health Ministry no longer does manual contact tracing through positive cases’ contact history investigations, but currently relies on MySejahtera check-ins and MySJ Trace.
Khairy Jamaluddin also suggests doing away with the logbook provided at public premises for patrons to record their details upon entry, as MOH does not use it for contact tracing.
Khairy Jamaluddin says MySJ Trace will not result in a pingdemic like in the UK, as casual contacts picked up via Bluetooth only need to self-test once for Covid-19 without having to quarantine.
MOSTI moots Bluetooth tech for MySejahtera to identify close contacts and a new self-quarantine app with geofencing tech — which may be piloted in the Greater Klang Valley this month — that will sound an alarm if Covid-19 cases step outside their home.
