KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — In his last tweet as health minister, Dzulkefly Ahmad said that two coronavirus patients in Malaysia have recovered, leaving only two still in treatment.
Dr Mahathir Mohamad resigned as prime minister earlier today, while Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia and 10 MPs aligned to Gombak MP Azmin Ali quit Pakatan Harapan (PH), which means the collapse of the PH government and automatic dissolution of the Cabinet.
“Two more Covid-19 cases have recovered fully and were discharged today. No new positive cases,” Dzulkefly tweeted.
The 14th and 19th coronavirus cases, who were treated at Kuala Lumpur Hospital and have since recovered, are China nationals aged 37 and 38, respectively. They tested positive for the coronavirus earlier this month.
“Two more (Covid-19 patients) are still being treated in the ward and are stable,” he added, along with a screenshot of his press statement on the Covid-19 cases.
“My last tweet as YBMK (the honorable Health Minister). TK! (Thank you).”
He said that there are still 22 cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia, which has been the case for several days now, out of which 20 have recovered. This means that there are only two more patients still infected with Covid-19 in the country as of today.
An aide to Dzulkefly later told the media that this was the minister’s last official press statement as health minister.
In an earlier event in the capital, Dzulkefly, who is Kuala Selangor MP from Amanah, had joked that it would have been his last event as the health minister.
Malaysians on Twitter have been praising Dzulkefly for his work as health minister since his appointment after the May 9, 2018 polls two years ago. Dzulkefly has also ranked in a few polls among the least unpopular ministers.
