UMSC Contributes RM45,000 Towards The Sustainability Of Petaling Jaya Through CSR

In conjunction with UMSC’s 27th anniversary, the hospital extended its outreach to the Petaling Jaya community through charitable contributions and sustainable community support.

KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 — UM Specialist Centre (UMSC), Malaysia’s premier quaternary hospital and Malaysia’s leading referral centres for complex cases, reaffirmed its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) through its ongoing “UMSC with You” initiative.

In conjunction with UMSC’s 27th anniversary, the hospital extended its outreach to the Petaling Jaya community through charitable contributions and sustainable community support.

The third CSR initiative under the “UMSC with You” banner this year was held at Multicare Nursing Home in collaboration with the Persatuan Kebajikan Pusat Jagaan Rumah Kasih Harmoni Paya Jaras.

A total of RM45,000 was channelled through the association to benefit three welfare institutions: Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Victory Malaysia, Pusat Aktiviti Warga Emas Paya Jaras, and Multicare Nursing Home.

The programme featured several key activities, including free health screenings, the ceremonial handover of a mock cheque and hygiene kits, and the official handover of a mini fountain corner and an herbal garden, green initiatives designed to enhance environmental and emotional well-being.

The event also included a symbolic cake-cutting session to commemorate the spirit of community care and appreciation.

In addition to monetary contributions, the three homes received essential facility upgrades such as hospital beds, daily necessities, and therapeutic landscaping.

Mitchell Care Home, a welfare institution in Petaling Jaya, was also the recipient of a separate contribution of hospital beds to support its commitment to the care and wellbeing of its residents.

UMSC Chief Executive Officer Norzaiton Senusi said, “As a private hospital established in Kuala Lumpur over two decades ago, we have continuously expanded our social responsibility efforts to reach the Petaling Jaya community.

“The well-being and sustainability of our community remain central to our mission. This year’s CSR programme is particularly meaningful, aligning closely with UMSC’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) commitments, especially in areas such as No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, and Partnerships for the Goals.

“This event is not merely a CSR initiative; it is a reflection of our core values: compassion, care, and humanity. Our contribution of equipment and facilities to these welfare homes is more than a gesture; it enhances access to care and introduces therapeutic landscapes to improve the residents’ quality of life.

“As a health care provider that serves patients of all ages, we see social responsibility not as an add-on, but as an integral component of our holistic commitment to sustainable development.”

Beyond health care, UMSC, as a private hospital under the umbrella of Universiti Malaya (UM), actively supports educational sustainability.

During the recent Eid al-Fitr celebration, 23 underprivileged UM students from Semester 2 of the 2024/2025 session received laptops to support their academic journey.

This initiative is part of UMSC’s broader efforts to facilitate continued excellence and resilience among students facing socio-economic challenges.

These initiatives will continue as part of UMSC’s long-term commitment to ensuring that the surrounding community continues to benefit from its presence.
