KUCHING, July 1 — Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) recently launched its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Radiotherapy Programme and hosted a public health forum entitled “Fearless Against Cancer: Innovations in Cancer Treatment” in Kuching, Sarawak.Â
The CSR programme was officially launched by Sarawak Deputy Premier Dr Sim Kui Hian and SMC chief executive officer Dr Seow Vei Ken, both of whom expressed their support and commitment to advancing cancer care and treatment, underscoring SMC’s commitment to making advanced cancer treatment accessible to all communities.Â
According to the Malaysian National Cancer Registry 2012–2016, Sarawak has been recorded as the state with the fifth highest cancer incidence rates. The state reportedly recorded with 2,300 new cancer cases annually.
The CSR Radiotherapy Programme is an initiative that demonstrates SMC’s dedication to improving patient outcomes and quality of life through advanced cancer treatment and comprehensive care.

“Together, through collaborative efforts and community support, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected by cancer in the Sarawak community and beyond,” he said.
The event also featured enlightening and educational talks by SMC medical experts, who provided insights into cutting-edge cancer treatments. In Malaysia, one in nine men and one in 10 women are at risk of developing cancer in their lifetime
The event not only provided a platform for promoting a healthy lifestyle but also facilitated the exchange of knowledge on cancer and treatment options.
