KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 25 — Health Minister Dr Adham Baba received his first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today.
Dr Adham got his first shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s two-dose coronavirus vaccine at the Putrajaya district health office, the administrator of his Twitter page tweeted today.
Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali, Health Ministry secretary-general Shafiq Abdullah, and three other frontliners also received their Covid-19 vaccines.
“Thank you to the health officers that were involved,” Dr Adham tweeted.
Yesterday, Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, the Pfizer-BioNTech shot, kickstarting the national Covid-19 immunisation programme.
Phase three clinical trials show that the Pfizer vaccine is 95 per cent effective. A huge real-world study involving 1.2 million people in Israel showed that the Pfizer vaccine was 94 per cent effective in preventing symptomatic Covid-19, seven or more days after the second dose.
