MOH Increasing Manufacturing Workers Screening With Rapid Tests

Dr Adham Baba says certain large companies may be asked to provide their own quarantine centres to isolate asymptomatic employees who are positive for Covid-19.

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 22 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) has increased Covid-19 screening for workers in the manufacturing industry with the help of the Social Security Organisation (Socso), Dr Adham Baba said.

“1.8 million workers in the manufacturing sector have been instructed to be screened using the RTK-Ag (method). So, if there’s positive cases, we will isolate and treat them,” the health minister said in a recent interview with CodeBlue

“If they are symptomatic, we will send them to our low-risk treatment and quarantine centre (PKRC).”

Dr Adham said that MOH may ask certain large companies to provide their own quarantine centres to isolate asymptomatic employees who are positive for Covid-19.

This quarantine station will, however, need adequate spacing between patients and also require monitoring of a doctor.

“1.8 million to settle. So we hope that the Human Resource Ministry through SOCSO is more aggressive in resolving this issue.”

The government has previously made it mandatory for all foreign workers in the country to be screened for Covid-19 from January 1 this year, failing which employers will face legal penalties.
