KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 21 — The government has extended the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Selangor, Penang, Melaka, Johor, Kelantan, Sabah, and the Federal Territories to February 4, making it a 23-day lockdown since January 13.
The government previously imposed an MCO on Kedah, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Negeri Sembilan, and Terengganu from January 22 to February 4. The MCO on Kelantan was enforced since January 16.
Senior Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob noted that Selangor exceeded more than 1,000 average daily Covid-19 cases from January 7 to 20.
He also gave the number of new Covid-19 cases recorded in that period in the following states:
- Sabah: 6,027 cases
- Johor: 5,665 cases
- Kuala Lumpur: 4,413 cases
- Penang: 2,310 cases
- Kelantan: 1,208 cases
- Melaka: 709 cases
- Putrajaya: 294 cases
- Labuan: 151 cases
