MOH Reports 11 New Covid-19 Cases, 333 Recoveries

Ten local transmissions today comprised six foreigners and four Malaysians.

KUALA LUMPUR, June 16 — The Ministry of Health (MOH) today recorded 11 new Covid-19 cases and 333 discharged patients, the highest number of recoveries in a single day since last March.

Of the new cases, 10 were local transmissions comprising six foreigners and four Malaysians. One imported case was also reported today.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country to 8,505.

Among the new cases reported today in Kuala Lumpur, one case involving a foreigner was detected during Covid-19 testing before coming to work, while another migrant worker who contracted the coronavirus was detected from the second Kuala Lumpur construction cluster.

In Negri Sembilan, three foreign Covid-19 patients belong to the Pedas factory cluster and one case was identified from the cleaning factory cluster.

The four new Covid-19 cases involving Malaysians comprised a patient identified from pre-surgery screening in Selangor, and three family members of Patient 8,453.

A total of 333 Covid-19 patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 7,733.

The number of active cases was reported at 651, whereas four patients are being treated in the intensive care unit.

No death was reported today, which brings the Covid-19 death toll in the country to stay at 121.
