Malaysia Dengue Historic High At Almost 121,000 Cases

Death toll stands at 164, higher than last year.

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 – Total dengue cases in Malaysia have now reached 120,871, reaching a record high since 2015.

The number marks dengue cases from December 30, 2018, to December 4, 2019, according to official data from iDengue.

In 2015, the total number of cases was recorded at 120,836 and saw a consistent decrease in subsequent years until it reached 80,615 in 2018.

But the numbers spiked up this year to reach 120,871 as of December 4.

Selangor leads the chart with 66,959 cases during the period, followed by Kuala Lumpur at 13,573 and Johor at 10,182 cases.

As for the daily number of cases, Selangor again takes the lead at 238 cases on December 4, followed by Johor at 44 and Kuala Lumpur at 29.

A total of 164 deaths have been recorded across Malaysia due to dengue this year alone. This is higher than the total number of deaths recorded in 2018, at 147.
