NPRA: Pharmacists Will Not Be Replaced Under IR 4.0

Pharmacists are irreplaceable, says director.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 – The National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) director Dr Faridah Aryani Md Yusof said that pharmacists will not be replaced by technological advancements, as human touch is needed for the service under the Industrial Revolution 4.0 (IR4.0).

“IR4.0 is not just about robotics but it involves big data. We need big data and all must be integrated. So, the role of the pharmacist is irreplaceable,” she told Bernama.

Dr Faridah also added that the role of pharmacists in consulting patients will not be replaced by technology, particularly by any application, robotic technology or artificial intelligence.

She said this during the 2019 Negeri Sembilan Pharmacy Conference, which was attended by 165 participants from various states.
