KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Dr S. Streram called for the Rantau government clinic’s infrastructure and facilities to be upgraded.
Bernama reported the Rantau hopeful as saying that the Rantau health clinic could not cope with the growing population in the Negri Sembilan state constituency due to outdated facilities and a lack of doctors.
“I have been in the medical profession for 34 years both in the private and government sectors and I know what the people here want in terms of health,” Dr Streram was quoted saying yesterday during the Rantau by-election.
“With the shortage of doctors, specialists, why not we use specialists from hospitals to come to Rantau to ease the problem or perhaps we can rotate the doctors?
“The clinic should also be equipped with a place where we can carry out minor operations and procedures during an emergency…these are issues that we need to look at,” he added.
Dr Streram is running against Umno acting president Mohamad Hasan, as well as two independents in the April 14 Rantau by-election.
