A specialist, whose HOD refuses to sign their NSR application due to fears of them leaving MOH, welcomes the new proposed gazettement system in an effort to expedite specialist registration, but says cutting the specialist allowance will spur resignations.

FRCS Cardiothoracic Graduates Still Not On NSR, Rebut MMC’s Claim Lawsuit ‘Academic’

FRCS Ed cardiothoracic surgery grads refuse to drop their suit deemed by MMC as "academic", as they're still not registered as specialists on NSR; even if the Medical (Amendment) Act 2024 is enforced, it still won't render their judicial review academic.

FRCS Cardiothoracic Graduates Maintain Lawsuit, Pending Amended Medical Act Gazettement

Pending gazettement of the 2024 Medical Act amendment, four FRCS Edinburgh cardiothoracic surgery grads are maintaining their lawsuit against MMC. An FRCS Ireland neurosurgery grad and six USM pathology (medical genetics) grads didn't announce dropping litigation either.

Medical Deans Demand New Medical Equivalent To MQA

The Malaysian Public University Medical Deans Council demands an independent and external entity, on par with or superior to MQA, to oversee evaluation of specialist qualifications/ training. The Medical amendment bill does not provide for this new entity.

The Dewan Rakyat today passed the Medical amendment bill in a radical revamp of medical specialty training in Malaysia, opening it up to local specialist societies beyond universities and enabling the registration of specialists from the parallel pathway.

Act 50 Amendment Bill Decouples MQA From Medical Specialist Training, Empowers Minister To Register Specialist Doctors And Qualifications

The Act 50 amendment bill opens up medical specialist training to non-university entities and removes MQA purview from specialist training/ postgrad medical programs run by non-university entities/ universities for the purposes of specialist registration.
