MOH’s Proposed RM3b Budget Cut Risks Worsening Health Care Crisis: Galen Centre

Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy CEO Azrul Mohd Khalib warned a RM3.06b MOH budget cut would mean longer waits, shortages, staff burnout, and preventable deaths. He said the cut would not even match the RM4b spent monthly on RON95 and diesel subsidies.

Report: Treasury Wants RM3b Cut To Health Ministry’s 2026 Budget

The Treasury has ordered budget cuts for various ministries this year due to a ballooning subsidy bill, specifying a proposed cut of about RM3 billion (6.6%) to the Health Ministry's RM46.5 billion 2026 budget, leaving MOH with a smaller budget than 2025.

Report: mySalam Paid Out 54% Of Critical Illness, Hospitalisation Claims

Based on its annual report, mySalam paid out 54% of two million total claims from 2019 to 2024 for critical illness (CI) and hospitalisation benefit (HB). Claims approval rates by the B40 health takaful scheme were 49% for CI and 55% for HB in that period.

On-Call Allowance Raise For All Doctors Costs RM80 Million Annually: MOH Official

A BSM official tells a parliament committee that raising on-call allowance for all medical officers by RM55-RM65 will cost an extra RM75mil to over RM80mil a year. Hence the allowance raise was limited to WBB, reducing implications to RM20mil or RM21mil.
