WAO: Medical Officers’ Shortened Maternity Leave Discourages Women From Health Care Workforce

WAO says cutting medical officers' maternity leave from 90 to 60 days discourages women from remaining in or joining the health workforce, subsequently worsening existing staff shortages in the health service. The government should emulate best practices.

Hartal: ‘Draconian’ Maternity Leave Reduction For Medical Officers Violates WHO Rules

Hartal Doktor Kontrak condemns the "draconian" reduction of maternity leave for medical officers to 60 days, saying this violates WHO's mandate for ILO standards of minimum 98 days. Maternity leave is a "fundamental right" critical for mother and infant.

Klinik Kesihatan Extended Hours Shift System May Force 30 Minutes ‘Free’ Labour

An MO at a KK in Selangor says the new shift system by Hulu Langat PKD for extended hours (EH) duty (5pm-9pm and 5.30pm-9.30pm) may force 30 minutes' "free" labour, as MOs might not finish on time. MOH has capped locum allowance claims for EH to 4 hours.
