An independent investigation found that South ICU staff were not trained in fire drills or emergency evacuation, leading to the deaths of six HSA patients in a blaze on October 25, 2016.
The HSA director and the government claim that the MOH hospital prioritised patient safety, trained staff on emergencies, had experienced workers, followed standards and procedures in maintenance, prepared an appropriate evacuation plan, and conducted efficient rescue efforts.
Plaintiffs alleged defendants' failure to ensure maintenance and repairs of facilities, electrical wiring, and electrical equipment in Sultanah Aminah Hospital, among others.
