MND Warriors Embark On Extraordinary Excursion To Taiping

The excursion aims to create lasting memories while raising awareness about MND and advocating for accessibility for the disabled in tourism.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 7 — Living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) presents immense challenges, yet resilience and determination continue to define those affected. MND is a rare, progressive neurological disease that weakens muscle function, affecting movement, speech, swallowing and breathing.

Despite these hurdles, a group of 12 courageous MND warriors, including seven who are wheelchair-bound, will embark on a remarkable journey to Taiping with their family members for an unforgettable adventure.

This special trip, organised in collaboration with the Taiping Tourism Association, will bring together a total of 53 participants, ranging in age from 6 to 80 years old.

The excursion aims to create lasting memories while raising awareness about MND and advocating for accessibility for the disabled in tourism.

On April 11, 2025, the group will depart from KL Sentral via KTM, kicking off an enriching three-day, two-night excursion. But before they set off, they will be present at KL Sentral (main entrance) from 10.30am to 11.15am to provide information about MND, engage with the public, and raise awareness about this rare disease. This will be a great opportunity for commuters and the public to learn more and show support for the warriors on their journey.

Their itinerary in Taiping includes visits to some of the town’s most iconic attractions:

  • Taiping Night Safari – A unique nocturnal wildlife experience at the first night zoo in Malaysia
  • Spritzer Ecopark – A refreshing visit to Malaysia’s premium natural mineral water source.
  • Taiping Lake Gardens – First public garden in Malaysia with scenic and historic parks.
  • Antong Coffee Factory – Malaysia’s oldest coffee mill, offering a glimpse into traditional coffee-making.
  • FlyTrike – A thrilling ultralight aviation experience, offering breathtaking aerial views.
  • My Charcoal Factory – An educational visit to learn about the traditional charcoal-making process.

This trip is more than just a getaway. It is a testament to the unwavering spirit of the MND community and a powerful reminder that disability should never be a barrier to experiencing life’s wonders.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that greater awareness of MND will be raised and more inclusive travel opportunities for individuals with disabilities will be promoted.

Stay tuned for updates and help spread awareness by sharing this story. Let’s work together to create a more inclusive world where everyone, regardless of their challenges, can live life to the fullest.
