KOTA KINABALU, March 11 — The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and the Malaysian Association of Paediatric Palliative Care (MAPPAC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to launch Sepeda Amal Borneo 2025 (#SAB2025), a 600km charity ride from Sandakan to Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
The initiative aims to raise funds and awareness for the establishment of the Malaysian Children’s Hospice (MCH) Kota Kinabalu, providing essential care for children with life-limiting conditions.
Taking place from July 27 to August 1, 2025, this fourth edition of Sepeda Amal Borneo (SAB) will see 16 cyclists from Malaysia and abroad ride in solidarity with children and families facing serious illnesses.
The route, covering 600km with an elevation gain of 6,000 meters, presents both a physical and emotional challenge, underscoring the resilience and compassion at the heart of this mission.
“The Sepeda Amal Borneo 2025 event aims to raise awareness about paediatric palliative care,” said Dr Kalwinder Singh Khaira, president of MMA.
“This is more than just a cycling event. Every kilometer cycled extends warmth and support to children and families in need.
“Awareness of paediatric palliative care is crucial because it ensures that children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions receive the specialised medical, emotional, and psychological support they need.”
