KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad has been appointed as the new secretary-general of the Ministry of Health (MOH), effective March 9, following a senior civil service reshuffle involving several top government posts.
Chief secretary to the government Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar announced the appointment today in a statement on changes to several senior management positions in the public service.
Hasnol Zam Zam, who is currently secretary-general of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti), will replace Suriani Ahmad.
The reshuffle also includes several other leadership changes across the federal government. Noor Azman Abdul Rahman, currently human resources division secretary at the MOH, has been appointed Perlis state secretary.
Anis Rizana Mohd Zainudin, currently director-general of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, will become secretary-general of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Rahimi Ismail, currently Perlis state secretary, will move to the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia (KBS) as secretary-general, while KBS’s current secretary-general, Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu, will become secretary-general of MOSTI.
Amran Ahmad, deputy secretary-general at the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), has been appointed director-general of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department.
Shamsul Azri said the changes reflect the need for faster and more agile reforms in the civil service. “The public service must be more transparent and uphold integrity in building a public sector that is more competitive and relevant to changing times,” he said.
