KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 — Pharmacy assistants in the Petaling district health office (PKD) of Selangor have complained about not getting uniform fabric supply and tailoring allowance (BUJ) for this year.
According to an October 13 memo by Petaling district health officer Dr Jamiatul Aida Md Sani, as sighted by CodeBlue, uniform fabric supply for matrons and pharmacy assistants have exceeded the quantity limits set by the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the Ministry of Health (MOH) for 2025.
“This is outside the Petaling PKD’s control.
“In line with that, payment of the tailoring allowance for the officers listed in Appendix A will be postponed until contract renewal and quantity confirmation can be finalised by the MOH and MOF,” wrote Dr Jamiatul Aida, with her letter listing three matrons and 33 pharmacy assistants across various public health clinics.
In an October 14 letter, as sighted by CodeBlue, Selangor state health department (JKNS) deputy director (management) Mizhar Mazlan wrote that the MOH’s management services division (BKP) has found that three MOH uniform fabric items contracted from 2023 to 2025 had reached their quantity limit: MOH S3 (SS) Polyester – Sedona Sage, MOH B1 (BP) Polyester – Black Phantom, and MOH S1 (B1) Polyester – Black Iris.
As such, orders could not be made from the eProcurement system.
“Following that, MOH’s BKP has made an application to the Ministry of Finance to change the contract quantity.”
JKNS’ letter was forwarded by Dr Jamiatul Aida to the heads of the pharmacy, nursing, and public health management sectors in the Petaling PKD last October 21.
A pharmacy assistant said pharmacy assistants are eligible for an RM690 BUJ allowance for three sets of uniforms a year.
“Petaling PKD’s accounts will be closed on December 5, 2025, but there’s still no news about the status of the uniform fabric and BUJ; Petaling PKD simply used the memos as an answer and did not give any updated information,” the pharmacy assistant told CodeBlue on condition of anonymity.
“We were made to understand that BUJ can only be paid in the current year, which is 2025, before accounts close. The PKD couldn’t promise us that the 2025 BUJ will be paid next year.
“We are in great need of fabric to make uniforms, as well as the tailoring allowance, because in our profession, we are only provided with three sets of uniforms. Most of them have become worn out, faded, torn, and no longer present a professional appearance, especially as public servants in the Ministry of Health Malaysia.”
CodeBlue has requested comments from the MOH.
