Thank You, FPMPAM, For Voicing What Every Doctor Feels — Dr James Jeremiah

Dr James Jeremiah says FPMPAM president Dr Shanmuganathan Ganeson’s statement condemning the health minister’s failure to defend the profession “resonates with the silent frustration shared by thousands of doctors, both in the private and public sectors.”

We extend our deepest appreciation to Dr Shanmuganathan Ganeson, president of the Federation of Private Medical Practitioners’ Associations, Malaysia (FPMPAM), for courageously speaking up on behalf of the medical fraternity.

His recent statement condemning the health minister’s failure to defend the profession resonates with the silent frustration shared by thousands of doctors across the country, both in the private and public sectors.

For far too long, doctors have been over-regulated, under-consulted, and frequently blamed in the name of cost control. Policies affecting clinical judgement and professional autonomy are being drafted and enforced without proper medical input, often led by agencies outside the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Dr Shanmuganathan’s bold stance reminds us that we are not alone, that our dignity, our duty, and our voice matter.

Dr James Jeremiah is the immediate past president and founding president of the Association of Private Practitioners Sabah (APPS).
