KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 24 — Sunway Fertility Centre (SFC) recently celebrated the birth of 1,100 in vitro fertilization (IVF) babies across their fertility centres, marking a significant milestone in their dedication to providing fertility treatments and making parenthood dreams a reality.
This achievement was commemorated with a cake-cutting ceremony at Sunway Medical Centre and SFC Kuching, accompanied by various activities such as ear and language screenings for the families of the IVF babies.
“Reaching the milestone of 1,100 IVF babies is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment of our team of specialists, nurses, and customer service professionals.
“This celebration is not just about numbers but about the countless hopes and new beginnings we have helped create for families. As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our mission to bring joy to even more families through advanced fertility care,” said Woon Ming Ming, Chief Executive Officer of SFC.
“We believe in raising awareness about infertility, which is a common issue in Malaysia. There is no one-size-fits-all approach, as we provide personalised assessments and counselling to each couple. Importantly, we urge couples to seek treatment early and not to give up hope,” she added.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has indicated that infertility is a rising global issue, reflected in the growing number of international patients seeking SFC’s services as 2024 data showed that 20 per cent of its patients are foreigners – figures have nearly doubled from 2022.
Equipped with cutting-edge imaging and genetic testing technology to support the success of IVF treatments, Sunway Fertility Centre also provides other services such as cryopreservation of reproductive cells, surgical sperm retrieval, egg and sperm donations, various reproductive surgeries, and treatments for endometriosis and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).
Certified by the Reproductive Technology Accreditation Committee (RTAC) since 2023, SFC also won the Healthcare Asia Awards 2024 in the Customer Service Initiative of the Year – Malaysia category for its patient-centric and personalised care approach.
Notable efforts include a dedicated 24-hour Patient Careline managed by qualified fertility nurses.
