The Academy of Medicine of Malaysia (AMM) strongly supports Health Minister Dzulkefly Ahmad in his ongoing efforts to resolve matters pertaining to the training of medical specialists in our nation.
We appreciate the pivotal steps taken toward resolving these long-standing issues and ensuring a streamlined recognition and registration process for medical specialists and the way forward for medical specialty training and the relevant support systems, especially regarding quality assurance.
We also commend the efforts made by the Ministry of Health (MOH) in organising the engagement session at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre on June 12, 2024.
This session, attended by representatives from all 12 Colleges under AMM provided a valuable platform for discussing and exchanging perspectives on the proposed amendments to the Act.
We are grateful for the opportunity to voice our concerns and address the issues we believe, are crucial.
In conclusion, as the professional body representing medical specialists in various specialties working in the Ministry of Health, the universities and in the private sector in the country, AMM anticipates positive effects on our health care system and enhancement of the quality of care that specialists will deliver to the Malaysian population.
It is crucial that our regulatory frameworks stay strong and responsive to current demands, guaranteeing the highest quality of health care for everyone.
