MMA Organises Conference To Guide Students Towards Making The Right Career Choice

The Career Guidance Conference aims to guide students in making a more informed decision when choosing their careers.

KUALA LUMPUR, April 29 — The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA), as part of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, is organising the second edition of its Career Guidance Conference (CGC), which will take place at the G Hotel, Georgetown, Penang on May 11 and 12, 2024.

Themed “Empowering Our Future”, the conference aims to guide students in making a more informed decision when choosing their careers. As many as 21 prominent speakers from various fields, 15 professional organisations, as well as universities and colleges, will be participating in the CGC. 

 “This conference is being organised to educate students and their parents on the various career options available, as well as to provide insights into the real-life challenges inherent in each profession” says MMA president Dr Azizan Abdul Aziz.

“Many among the current generation in our workforce have expectations that are not aligned with the realities of work life.

“This issue is not confined to health care, it happens in other sectors as well,” she noted, underlining the need for informed decision-making in career choices. 

The CGC targets secondary school students aged 15 to 17 and their parents. Admission to the conference is free of charge, however prior registration is required to secure a seat.

Organisations participating in the conference include the Ministry of Education (MOE), TalentCorp, MMA Foundation, EduAdvisor, the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), Malaysia Airlines Pilots Association (MAPA), Malaysia Bersatu Culinary Association (MBCA), Global Chefs Union, Malaysian Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA), Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology, Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS), Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), National Union of Teaching Profession (NUTP), Malaysian Dental Association (MDA), Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN), Ascendance, and ET Boost.
