KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 — With the current Covid-19 pandemic ravaging the world, the importance of basic hygiene practices has taken centre-stage and become a top priority.
It has become part of the new normal to regularly wash and sanitise our hands, practise social distancing and wear masks in public to keep ourselves safe.
To support Malaysians in their efforts to stay safe, Gentle Supreme with the support of the Malaysian Ministry of Transport is rolling out the ‘Keep Malaysia Safe & Protected’ campaign
in conjunction with the launch of the new WIZACT 24 Disinfecting Spray & Clean, a surface disinfectant which kills 99.9 per cent of viruses and bacteria and offers protection against multiple touches for up to 24 hours.
As an added protective measure to complement existing comprehensive and regular Covid-19 prevention protocols being implemented by the local transportation services, Gentle Supreme will be supporting the disinfection efforts at 24 transportation hubs within the Klang Valley beginning with selected Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) stations.
According to Datuk Dr Christopher Lee, Infectious Disease Specialist and President, Malaysian AIDS Council, “Frequently touched surfaces in public areas are key sources of transmission of various pathogens such as E. coli, influenza, and even COVID-19. When an infected person coughs, sneezes or touches these surfaces, the respiratory droplets harbouring these pathogens are left behind and transmitted to the next person who comes into contact with the contaminated surface.”
“That is why health bodies like the World Health Organisation (WHO) and our local Ministry of Health (MOH) recommend and stress the importance of frequent handwashing and avoiding touching of your face, mouth and eyes.”
Currently, 20 percent of the Malaysian population utilises public transport every day. During their commute, they frequently come in contact with exposed surfaces such as hand railings, passenger seats on buses and trains, and ticket turnstiles which can harbour infectious bacteria and viruses such as Covid-19.
“As Malaysians, we feel a sense of responsibility to come together and do our part in stopping the spread of infectious diseases, more so during this challenging time we are facing. Through the ‘Keep Malaysia Safe & Protected’ campaign, we aim to educate the Malaysian public on how infectious diseases are transmitted and what we can do to keep ourselves and our families safe,” said Kam Ai Nee, Head of Marketing of Gentle Supreme Sdn Bhd.
Understanding the threat that surface-borne pathogens pose, Gentle Supreme has launched its novel surface disinfectant, WIZACT 24 Disinfecting Spray & Clean, the first in the world to use technology powered by Actiguard, a proprietary disinfectant system with Actizone – a 24-hour antimicrobial technology that has passed the stringent disinfectant standards according to US EPA RSS24 and UK BSI PAS2424 disinfectant protocols.
