Private Hospitals Provide 900 Beds For Public Patients, 65 Ventilators To MOH

Details are being finalised, says the Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM).

KUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — Seventy private hospitals have made available 900 beds for non-coronavirus patients transferred from government hospitals.

“Details are mutually being finalised,” Association of Private Hospitals of Malaysia (APHM) president Dr Kuljit Singh said in a statement today.

APHM member hospitals also provided 65 ventilators to the Ministry of Health (MOH), amid the Covid-19 outbreak.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said yesterday that MOH is planning to increase the number of ventilators to 500 for Covid-19 patients.

Malaysia reported 235 new coronavirus infections today, the highest daily spike ever, leading to a total of 2,031 cases in Malaysia.

The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care unit (ICU) remained at 45, out of which 32 are on ventilator support.
