KUALA LUMPUR, 24 March – Health authorities today reported 106 new coronavirus cases, pushing the total number of cases to 1,624.
A total of 64 patients are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), out of which 27 are on ventilator support. The number of patients in ICU saw an increase from 57 yesterday, whereas patients that require ventilator support remained at the same number.
“According to preliminary investigations, out of the 106 new cases reported today, a total of 43 cases were related to the tabligh cluster in Sri Petaling. About 61 per cent of the total 1,624 Covid-19 cases in Malaysia, or 986 patients, are from the tabligh cluster.
One death was reported earlier today — Patient 1,519, a 70-year-old Malaysian man from Melaka who previously suffered diabetes and hypertension and was in close contact, during Friday prayers, with a coronavirus patient, Patient 703, who attended the tabligh event.
Twenty-four Covid-19 patients recovered and were discharged from hospital today. A total of 183 cases have recovered fully and were discharged from hospital.
