Reconsider BIW Allowance Cuts For Health Workers: Bandar Kuching MP

Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii urges MOH and JPA to reconsider BIW allowance cuts for doctors, pharmacists, and nurses posted to Sabah, Sarawak, and Labuan. Ideally, the old BIW framework (percentage of salary) should be restored for health care workers.

Nurses, Emergency Doctors, Medical Assistants Get 42-Hour Work Week: JPA

JPA has granted exemptions to 5 service schemes in MOH from the 45-hour work week under SSPA, allowing nurses, community nurses, medical officers in the emergency department, assistant medical officers, and health care assistants to work 42 hours a week.

An online petition for the restoration of a 42-hour work week and public holiday entitlements for government nurses has received a whopping 14,000 over signatures. Signatories oppose the new 45-hour work week, touting burnout and medicolegal liability.

Nurses’ Group Renews Opposition To 45-Hour Work Week

After doctors successfully pushed back against WBB, the Delegation of Nurses reiterated its opposition to the 45-hour work week for nurses, pointing out that this is longer than the UK's NHS (38.5 hours), Indonesia (40 hours), and Singapore (38-42 hours).
