SST Expansion Covers Most Healthy Foods, Nicotine Gum, Medical Cannabis

The expanded SST covers most healthy food groups: fish, seafood, beans and legumes, imported fruits, cereals, nuts, seeds, healthy cooking oils, dairy products and coconut water. Nicotine gum is also taxed, as well as cannabis "used primarily in pharmacy".

The Association of Private Hospitals Malaysia (APHM) urges the govt to delay 6% SST on private health care for foreigners from July 1, saying hospitals need time to adjust systems. It also seeks clarity on professional fees and foreign residents.
