Dr Dzul says despite the downscaling of Madani Medical Scheme to 10 districts, funding is set to run out in April 2024; it costs RM1.7 mil weekly in those 10 districts. Rather than treat cough and cold, Peka B40 screening has better health outcomes, he adds.

This year, primary health care facilities under MOH received just RM34 million (17%) of >RM200 million in funding requested for medical equipment. Hence, the replacement of disposed and defective equipment, and critical and obsolete equipment are priority.
