MMA urges the government to raise doctors' on-call allowance by 173% from RM9.16 to RM25 hourly, citing MOH's statement last Feb that the new on-call rate would be announced "soon". Government doctors' on-call allowances haven't been revised since 2012.

Deputy Health Minister Lukanisman acknowledges today that government doctors work without sleep like "zombies", admitting that medical officers are paid RM9/hour for weekend on-call. Senator Dr Lingeshwaran says the RM9 rate is lower than for Grab drivers.
