Over 2,000 Government Doctors, Nurses With Five Years’ Service Quit Since 2022

Over 2,000 MOH doctors and nurses with over five years’ service resigned between 2022 and 2024. Nurse resignations rose sharply over the period, while doctor exits declined slightly. MOH says it's boosting retention through staffing and incentives.

Nearly 52,000 Government Doctors Currently Employed, About 3,500 Permanent MOs And Specialists Quit MOH Past Five Years

The health minister's Parliament reply shows some 52,000 medical officers and specialist doctors were employed by MOH as of June 30; Selangor has most doctors. Annual data shows ~3,500 permanent MOs and specialists quit MOH in the past five years in total.

JKNS: 95% Of Ampang Hospital’s Permanent Medical Officer Positions Filled

The Selangor state health department says 20 medical officers from various departments at Ampang Hospital quit since Jan 2024, adding that over 95% of permanent medical officer positions at the tertiary hospital are filled. There are also 80 contract MOs.
